Sanctions Chief: Iranian Inflexibility Could Change

Treasury Under-Secretary David Cohen, in charge of United States sanctions against Iran's nuclear development program, said, Monday, that it appears the Tehran government's inflexibility may change.

Interviewed by Israel Defense Forces Radio, Cohen said that the government in Washington saw signs during the past year, especially during recent weeks, that the Islamic Republic has an interest in reaching a solution through negotiations. He added that American sanctions on Iran have had a great effect , warning that the window of opportunity would not remain open for long. The under-secretary said 2012 was one of the toughest years the administration of the ayatollahs has known.
