Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the first day of the trading week, Sunday, with modest gains. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,045.71, up two tenths of a percent, while the TA 100 rose .24 percent to 1,050.69, including a .22-percent advance to 1,186.78 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
Leading the gainers were the insurance stocks, which climbed .73 percent to 1,233.11 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,076.33, up .13 percent, including a slip of .08 percent to 1,137.73 by the bank index. Next came the communications and media issues, which closed at 505.67, up .31 percent, followed by the oil and natural-gas stocks, which rose two tenths of a percent to 1,135.44. The biomed index stood at 780.87, up .11 percent, while the rest of the technology issues edged up .01 percent to 323.68 and the real-estate stocks declined .23 percent to 306.05.
