The Supreme Court will release its verdict Monday morning in an appeal filed by attorneys for Anat Kam, who was convicted of illegally giving classified IDF information to a reporter, Uri Blau of Haaretz, during her mandatory IDF service. Kam's attorneys say her 4.5 year jail sentence is unduly harsh.
They have argued that the punishment is disproportionate, and urged judges to take into account the fact that Kam has expressed regret for her actions.
Uri Blau was sentenced to just four months of community service under a plea bargain. Blau was abroad when Kam was arrested and had refused to return to Israel without guarantees that he would not serve significant jail time.
