Shas plans to ask for the Finance Ministry in the next coalition, a senior party member told Yisrael Hayom. The party will request the sought-after portfolio if Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who is expected to be re-elected, follows through on recent warnings that he will take the Housing Ministry and Interior Ministry, Shas' current portfolios.
"Shas' focus is on the weaker elements of society, and the Finance Ministry will help us with exactly that," one of the party's three Knesset faction leaders said. "We're working hard enough to get enough seats to demand the Finance portfolio. When we get 14-15 seats it will be very hard to tell us 'no.'"
