The Iranian navy opened a large-scale naval exercise, Friday, in the strategic Straits of Hormuz at the southern end of the Persian Gulf. The Velayat 91 drill, involving submarines and other warships, is scheduled to last until Wednesday.

It comes on the heels of the Fajr 91 drill in Iranian waters next to Qatar.
