The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the trading week, Thursday, with modest losses in heavy mixed trading. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,043.64, down .22 percent, while the TA 100 declined .17 percent to 1,048.18, including a .15-percent drop to 1,184.12 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
The insurance stocks led the gainers, jumping 2.06 percent to 1,214.23 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,074.92, up 1.46 percent, including an advance of 1.04 percent to 1,138.68 by the bank index. The real estate issues closed at 306.75, up 1.49 percent, and the Ma'ala organization's list of socially-responsible companies edged up .14 percent to 866.88. On the other side of the coin, the oil and natural-gas stocks were the worst hit, falling 2.13 percent to 1,133.12, followed by most of the technology index, which stood at 323.66, , down 1.55 percent, while the biomed issues slumped 1.03 percent to 780.05. The communications and media stocks closed at 504.09, down 1.18 percent.
