The Israel Defense Force announced Wednesday the establishment of a new regional brigade to protect the border with Egypt and other southern areas. The brigade will be active in the vicinity of the city of Eilat.

In 2011 eight Israelis were murdered in a cross border attack in the Ein Netafim area. Israeli soldiers successful eliminated the attackers and prevented further incursions.
