It's only been one day since the Ariel University Center was officially recognized as Ariel University, but already a petition has been submitted against the decision. The Attorney General recently filed its response, asking the Supreme Court to reject the petition.
On Tuesday, Ariel was declared Israel's 8th university. It has existed as an institution of higher learning for almost 30 years and services Israeli students of all ethnicities and religious beliefs. Some are against its official recognition because they believe all Israeli presence in Judea and Samaria must be removed as part of final status negotiations with the Palestinian Authority.
