Compensation for Wrong Conviction for Soldier's Murder
The Nazareth District Court has ruled that the state must compensate two Israeli Arab men from Kfar Kana who were wrongfully convicted for the kidnapping and murder of IDF soldier Oleg Shaichat. The two served ten months in prison and another two weeks of house arrest.
Each will receive 500,000 shekels.
Kfar Kana residents Mohammed Anabtawi and Mohammed Khatib were later convicted in the 2003 slaying.
