Hamas is preventing Fatah from celebrating the anniversary of its creation in the same central Gaza square used by Hamas for its own celebrations, Kol Yisrael radio reports.
Gaza officials said the reason for the order was to prevent fights from breaking out among Fatah members. Hamas has previously announced that Fatah will not be allowed to hold one central rally, but rather, shall hold several smaller rallies.
Fatah is being allowed to celebrate as one of many steps toward reconciliation between it and Hamas. The two groups hope to eventually resume joint control of the Palestinian Authority.
