Health Ministry Warns Against Danger of Lead Fumes

The Health Ministry issued a warning, Monday, against the use of fumes from boiling lead, following reports that people are engaging in the practice to ward off the "evil eye".

A ministry statement stressed the danger to little children and pregnant women, explaining that exposure to the fumes could affect development of the nervous system and lead to heart and blood-vessel diseases, harm the functioning of the kidneys, increase blood pressure and harm fertility or a developing fetus.
