Employees of the Ma'ariv daily said, Sunday, that they will demonstrate, Monday, opposite the home of Ma'ariv trustee, attorney Shlomo Ness, to protest the failure of the newspaper to pay freelancers for their services during the month of October. Under an agreement between the parties, the freelancers are supposed to be paid 30 days after the end of the month in which the services were rendered.
The workers' committee issued a statement that said, "This is not an isolated incident but hundreds of workers who went above and beyond and did their jobs properly and they should receive their wages for that." They also said, "We will not agree to the withholding of even one employee's salary. The trustees must do what is required and pay the workers their full salary."
