Major-General (res.) Elazar Stern, former IDF Manpower Directorate head and current candidate on the Hatnua party list, criticized Naftali Bennet on Sunday over his statement that he would be unable, as a soldier, to expel Jews from their homes.
“I was head of manpower during the Disengagement, or expulsion, whichever you call it. It was very painful for me. I had a good friend in Atzmona… It was because it was painful that I had to be there,” Stern said. “I also ‘couldn’t,’ our missions are hard. Is charging the enemy under fire not hard? Is making an elderly woman wait at a checkpoint not hard?”
“As a leader, you cannot make others do the hard missions,” he added.
