Minister Moshe Ya'alon eulogized former IDF Chief-of-Staff Amnon Lipkin-Shahak who passed away Wednesday. "It's hard to talk about Amnon Lipkin-Shahak in the past tense. It's difficult because Amnon was an integral part in the life of everyone who met him, and an integral part of my life," said Ya'alon.
He added, "He was first and foremost a person, a people person, a true friend who was always there for his friends and subordinates. Caring, dedicated, affectionate, a man whose mouth and heart were equal - he always said what was in his heart, even if it was difficult for the listener, but he always did it so humanely and with mutual respect. That was Amnon Lipkin-Shahak. There are very few commanders who had such an effect on me, in my military service and my life in general, and Amnon was one of them. Every encounter with him for me was a life lesson. His door was always open to advice, help, teaching, and encouragement. Amnon was a daring, brave, cool and thorough commander."
