The Palestinian National Council has slammed PFLP terrorist group higher-up Ahmad Jibril for getting “Palestinian refugees” in Syria involved in Syria’s bloody civil war, Maan news reports. PFLP fighters joined Assad’s troops in fighting rebels in the Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus.
Rebels won control of the camp, and thousands of residents have fled. The rebels say many of the PFLP fighters have defected to join them.
The PNC has expressed concern that making Yarmouk the site of fighting will lead to a massacre, and accused Jibril of “dragging Palestinians into the conflict” despite a PNC decision not to get involved in internal Syrian affairs. The PFLP fighters in question were born and raised in Syria, but are considered Palestinian and not Syrian due to their descent from Arabs who fled pre-state Israel.
