President Shimon Peres joined other Jewish leaders, Tuesday, in expressing condolences on the passing of United States Senator Daniel Inouye, who was very active in the defense and strengthening of the State of Israel.
In a letter to the Senator's wife, Peres wrote, "On behalf of the citizens of Israel, I want to express my deep regret over the loss of Senator Inouye. In his passing, we in Israel feel that the State of Israel and Israeli citizens have lost a dear friend, and we mourn the passing together with you."
