ICC Acquits Congo Rebel Leader of Rape, Murder

The International Criminal Court acquitted Mathieu Ngudjolo, a rebel leader from Congo who was charged with, among other things, rape, murder and pillage for his part in leading rebel fighters who ransacked a village in eastern Congo in 2003, raping and brutally killing about 200 people, children included.

The acquittal is only the second verdict handed down in the ICC's ten-year history and also marked the court's first acquital.
