Israel's 65th Will Mark National Heritage

As Israel approaches the 65th anniversary of its reestablishment, preparations are being made for the annual celebrations.

The Ministerial Committee for Symbols and Ceremonies accepted a new proposal by Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu. The Prime Minister requesting that the main theme of the celebrations mark the "preservation of national cultural heritage." The traditional torch-bearers for the official ceremonies will be selected with this theme in mind.

Prime Minister Netanyahu during his most recent term in office has pushed for national heritage sites to be refurbished. These include Independence Hall in Tel Aviv and other buildings and locations that hold significance to Israel's history.
