Finance Committee to Approve Budget Cuts Tuesday

The Knesset Finance Committee is scheduled to meet, Tuesday morning, to approve 740 million shekels in cuts to the 2012 budgets of government ministries. The across-the-board cuts are needed to complete the security barrier in the Eilat area and the holding area for infiltrators, and to strengthen the Homefront Command. The budgets for the Transportation Ministry, the Prime Minister's Office and the Presidential Residence will each be cut by 25 million shekels.

Also on the committee's agenda is a government guarantee to cover the debts of the Israel Electric Company and the extension of legislation that is due to expire at the end of the month.
