Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius of France said, Sunday evening, that he believes the government of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad is close to falling. Interviewed by a French radio station, Fabius said, "I think that the end of President Assad is closer than ever."

He also said that the Syrian opposition must be supported in order to avoid extremists taking over the state.
