Channel 10 TV to Give Entire Staff Dismissal Notice

The directors of financially-troubled Channel 10 Television have called an emergency meeting for Saturday evening, at which time they are scheduled to inform all the employees that they are being dismissed. Only weeks after Ron Lauder signed an agreement to infuse the station with money and guarantees for paying off its debts, the government informed management, Thursday, that it would not endorse a law that was needed to finish the package.

The station's workers' committee said, in a Thursday-evening statement, that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, "is working to shape reality in which any journalist will know that he could lose his job if he does not hurry to step in line with the messages of the prime minister." Similar sentiments were expressed, Friday, by Member of Knesset Yoel Hasson, the Chairman of the reaction staff of Tzipi Livni's Hatenu'ah party.
