Despite Chanukah, Temple Mount Closed to Jews

The Temple Mount in Jerusalem's Old City was closed to Jews for two days, starting Friday, due to concerns that Muslims coming to Friday prayers at the site will riot against the backdrop of tensions in Palestinian Authority-assigned areas. Many Jews are expected to go up to the holy site when it reopens to Jews on Sunday, including a large group from the Samarian (Shomron) community of Kedumim, led by Rabbi Daniel Shilo, a leader of the Yesha (Judea and Samaria) rabbis.
