Beit Levi - Chabad of Baka will hold a farbrengen and Chanukah celebration Wednesday evening sponsored by Rabbi Avraham and Mrs. Dina Hendel. The celebration will also include a tribute to Levi Hendel, the brother of the rabbi, who was tragically killed on Chanukah in 2006. Levi Hendel was 13 years old at the time. He and three other Chabad volunteers were killed in a car crash on the road to Eilat. They were on their way for a volunteer program on an IDF army base to deliver Chanukah donuts, candles and help with holiday celebrations.
The other volunteers killed in the crash were Yonatan Biton and Moshe Golan. Four other people were wounded.
Chabad of Baka is named in memory of the late Levi Hendel. It holds regular Shabbat services, Torah classes and outreach programs for the Jerusalem neighborhoods of Geulim / Baka, Talpiot, Arnona and surrounding areas. Rabbi Hendel has been conducting the candle lighting ceremony for children at the Kenyon Yisrael mall in Talpiot this week as well. For more information visit www.chabadofbaka.com.
