Livni Upset as Second-in-Command Terms Party ‘Left’

Tzipi Livni voiced upset Wednesday after former Labor party chairman Amram Mitzna, who is second on her party list, called the party left wing. “Ultimately in Israeli politics there is no center, we are on the left,” he told a Channel 2 interviewer.

Livni insists her party, The Movement, is centrist. The Kadima party, Yesh Atid, and even Labor have similarly claimed to be centrist in recent weeks, prompting the humor site Latma to mock the trend in a recent broadcast by replacing the word “left” with “center.”
