NYC Gets ‘Raoul Wallenberg Way’

A street in the heavily Jewish neighborhood of Borough Park in New York City has been co-named Raoul Wallenberg Way in honor of humanitarian Raoul Wallenberg, who saved Jews during the Holocaust. Wallenberg has been credited with saving over 100,000 Hungarian Jews. He was taken into Soviet custody after the war and has not been seen since.

The NYC City Council approved the co-naming of 13th Avenue in hopes of perpetuating Wallenberg’s legacy.
