Hundreds of Striking Pelephone Workers Demonstrate

About 400 employees of the Pelephone cellular telephone company started a strike, Monday morning, over managements refusal to recognize their organizing efforts with the Histadrut Labor Federation. Hundreds of workers left the company's headquarters in Givatayim, near Tel Aviv, and started demonstrating outside.

The company replaced the striking workers with "employees opposed to the strike". Management claimed that more than 80 percent of the workers have not signed with the Histadrut while the strikers say more than 30 percent have signed with the organization.
