UN Human Rights: 'Disastrous Situation' in Egypt

The UN's high commissioner for human rights, Navi Pillay, expressed alarm over what he called a "disastrous situation" unfolding in Egypt.

In a statement, Pillay expressed concern over the draft constitution's failure to protect certain civil and political rights and forbid torture and racial or gender discrimination.

She also said the consitution allows for a concentration of power for Morsi, something that could be disastrous for a supposedly democratic country.

This is the third time this week that the UN has expressed concern over the human rights condition in Egypt.
