TV Expose Leads to Criminal Complaint Against Tenuva

Animal-rights groups Anonymous and Teyn Lechayot Lichyot (Let Animals Live) filed a complaint with police, Friday, against the Tenuva agricultural cooperative, following the findings of an investigation, aired Thursday evening on Channel 2 Television's Colbotek consumer-interest program. Employees of Tenuva's Adom Adom slaughterhouse were photographed electrocuting animals and dragging them on forklifts or by their feet. They also beat, stepped on, sat or rode on the animals and threw them in the air. Animals were kept in overcrowded, unsanitary conditions, with no access to food.

Hagai Cohen of Anonymous said, "Unfortunately, these are not unusual cases. The pictures show that supervisors instructed the workers to use these means and the abuse is routine. All that's left for consumers to do is to vote with their forks and refuse to fund the abuse from their pockets."
