The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the trading week, Thursday, with modest losses in mixed trading. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,080.09, down .16 percent on the day, while the TA 100 declined .18 percent to 1,085.23, including a .17-percent drop to 1,228.53 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 rose .12 percent to 425.91.
Leading the gainers was the insurance index, which jumped 2.12 percent to 1,171.29 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,051.19, up .71 percent, including a .09-percent advance to 1,124.09 by the bank issues. The oil and natural-gas stocks closed at 1,179.41, up .55 percent, while the biomed index advanced .18 percent to 817.61 and the rest of the technology issues declined .84 percent to 345.17. The communications and media stocks were the worst hit, ending the day at 536.38, down .97 percent.
