Minister of Communications Moshe Kachlon is leaving politics, but residents of the Binyamin region north of Jerusalem are hoping to convince him to commit to a final project before he goes. The state of communications along Highway 60 in the region is so desperate that it must be dealt with now, they say, not after the elections.
The lack of cell phone reception along some parts of the road puts lives at risk, local leaders say. “It’s happened more than once that we’ve been treating the wounded from car accidents or terrorist attacks in the area, and we can’t call to tell forces to come to the scene, or not to come,” a paramedic explained.
