Typhoon Bopha Hits Philippines, Kills over 200

An intense typhoon has caused extensive damage and at least 200 deaths in the southern Philippines. Typhoon Bopha struck the southern island of Mindanao, which was hit less than one year earlier by a tropical storm that killed 1,200 people.

Bopha had top winds of 175 kph (110 mph) when it hit the island Tuesday, blowing away trees and houses. More than 179,000 people are in evacuation centers.
