Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas plans to turn to the United Nations Security Council and ask that it call on Israel, in the name of recently admitted “Palestine”, to refrain from any construction in Judea, Samaria and eastern Jerusalem, it was reported Tuesday.

Arab affairs expert Dalit Halevi reports that a statement released following a meeting held by the PA leadership said that the PA intends to act decisively to prevent the Israeli government from building new housing units in the area known as E1 between Jerusalem and Ma'aleh Adumim.
