Israel Sought Jordan's Approval to Bomb Syrian WMD Site

According to a new report from the American magazine "The Atlantic," Israel sought approval from Jordan to attack Syrian chemical weapons sites, but Jordan would not sign off on the plan.

Israel does not need Jordan's approval to carry out such an attack but soughtit because they feared Syria might recipricate and attack Jordan, with one source telling the magazine, "A number of sites are not far from the border...The Jordanians have to be very careful about provoking the regime and they assume the Syrians would suspect Jordanian complicity in an Israeli attack."
