Praise for Soldiers, Not for Government, After Attack

Chairman Gershon Mesika of the Samaria (Shomron) Regional Council reacted, Monday morning, to the elimination of a terrorist who attacked Israeli soldiers next to Shavei Shomron by saying, "I praise the determined and immediate action of the security forces and the killing of the terrorist." He added, "It would be worthwhile for the government to learn from the security forces what determination is in the war against terror. A terrorist who tries to attack a Jew - the only correct result is to eliminate him."

The Samaria Residents' Council issued a statement, referring also to last week's United Nations vote on Palestinian Authority statehood, which said, "We urge the Israeli government to continue a relentless struggle against terrorism and to strengthen the settlement enterprise, and not be deterred by the 'scare tactics' by elements of the radical Left regarding international pressure designed to emasculate the sovereignty of Israel."
