Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon of the United Nations warned, Sunday, that Israeli plans, disclosed for new construction in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria (Shomron) would deal an "almost fatal blow" to any prospects for peace with the Palestinian Authority, according to Agence France Presse.
Referring to the E-1 area between Jerusalem and Ma'aleh Adumim, to the east of the capital, Ban's office said in a statement, "Settlements are illegal under international law and, should the E-1 settlement be constructed, it would represent an almost fatal blow to remaining chances of securing a two-state solution."
