Shas List Looks Like a Last-Minute Thing

Sources in the Sephardic-hareidi Shas party said, Sunday, that a decision on the composition of the party's list of Knesset candidates may be made only hours before Thursday's submission of the list to the elections committee. The current illness that party spiritual leader, Rabbi Ovadia Yoseph, is suffering, combined with the schedules of other members of the Shas council of sages, is being cited for the list being made known so late.

Tension is reported between the camps of the last individual party leader, Eli Yishai, and former chairman Aryeh Der'i, who are part of a three-man chairmanship team at the top of the party with Member of Knesset Ariel Attias, who appears to be headed for the third spot behind the loser between the other two.
