Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange finished the trading week, Thursday, with modest to sharp gains. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,082.84, up .33 percent, while the TA 100 rose .29 percent to 1,089.61, including a .31-percent advance to 1,229.97 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 climbed 1.21 percent to 417.21.
The bank index led the way, jumping 2.17 percent to 1,123.76 as the financial institutions closed at 1,038.49, up 1.44 percent, tempered by a decline of .36 percent to 1,158.92 by the insurance issues. The communications and media stocks ended the day at 546.28, up 2.14 percent, followed by the biomed stocks, which climbed 1.23 percent to 803.35, while the rest of the technology index closed at 355.26, up .93 percent. The Ma'ala organization's index of socially-responsible issues advanced 1.11 percent to 893.72. The real-estate stocks closed at 301.32, up 98 percent, while the oil and natural-gas index rose .85 percent to 1,151.47.
