Prosor: The World Doesn't Need Another Terrorist State

Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Ron Prosor, calls for weighing carefully whether "the world really needs another stae that imports arms and represents extremism and terror."

In an op-ed published in the Wall Street Journal, Prosor severely criticized the UN, saying that for the last twenty years the organization has been a rubber stamp for every PA move and that a virtual state may give Mahmoud Abbas a seat at the General Assembly, but will change nothing on the ground. It will only serve to raise the expectations of Palestinian Arabs unrealistically, something that can be disastrous in our area of the world.

Prosor was referring to the fact that achieving non-member status without prior peace negotiations with Israel means that the PA sees itself as an enemy entity bordering Israel and may follow in the footsteps of Hamas in Gaza.
