Brigadier General Peled Izhar officially entered his position as commander of the Border Police in Jerusalem on Wednesday. Peled replaced Brigadier General Yossi Poni, who was appointed deputy commander of the Border Police.

Peled previously commanded the Arava border. Border Police Commander Major General Amos Yakov congratulated Peled saying, "command of the Jerusalem district poses a great challenge. The task of maintaining balance and control in a very sensitive area requires wisdom and forbearance."
