Report: Chile Tells Israel 'Teach Tourists Fire Safety'

The nature-reserves authority in Chile recently asked the Israeli embassy to see to it that educational messages about fire safety be given to tourists visiting the country, ahead of the tourist season in the Southern Hemisphere, according to a Tuesday-morning report by the Ma'ariv daily.

The request followed last year's fire in the famous Torres del Paine reserve, in which about 14,000 dunam (3,500 acres) were destroyed. Authorities believed the fire was started by an Israeli. The newspaper reports that two Israeli backpackers were thrown out of the reserve recently after they camped in a prohibited area.
