Rosenthal: Likud List Keeps Peace Away

Mickey Rosenthal, a former journalist who is running for a spot on the Labor party’s list, warned on Monday night that the results of the Likud primaries mean that achieving peace with Arabs is less likely.

"Today the Likud made a hard turn to the right. Begin and Meridor were thrown out, and Danny Danon, Tzipi Hotovely and Moshe Feiglin took over the leadership of the movement. Add the Yisrael Beytenu list that will blend into joint list and you get the largest, most anti-democratic power that has gathered here since the founding of the State,” said Rosenthal.

"From the party of the people, the Netanyahu-Lieberman party is turning into a party which threatens the rule of law, democracy, and freedom of expression,” he added. “This is a party which will enrich the rich even more and the general public will pay the price. This is a party that will give more money to hareidim and settlers. This is a party that would distance Israel from the chances for peace.”
