Livni Sorry to See Barak Resign

Former Kadima party chairwoman Tzipi Livni expressed regret, Monday, at the announcement by Defense Minister Ehud Barak, that he is leaving politics as soon as the next government is formed. She said, "Barak has contributed a lot to the state as a soldier, a commander, a minister and prime minister, and the citizens of Israel owe him a lot."

Livni continued, "I hope that Barak will continue to contribute to the realization of the common Zionist vision the two of us hold, of a safe Jewish, democratic state which lives in peace with its neighbors." The former opposition leader noted, "In spite of our occasional differences, I have always appreciated his real concern for the future of Israel and I wish him, with all my heart, success in this new chapter in his life."
