Report: Arabs, Hareidim Have Highest Dropout Rate

The hareidi community has the highest school dropout rate among Jewish high-school students, according to a Monday-morning report by the Ma'ariv daily, which cited figures just released by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). The CBS report said 5.3 percent of all hareidi high-school students dropped out in 2011, while the number of hareidi students who finished 11th grade but did not start 12th grade was 17 percent, as compared to 10 percent for the general Jewish population. The overall Arab dropout rate for high school was 77 percent higher.

The Education Ministry said the CBS figures were not accurate and did not match the ministry's official data.
