Less than a week after Gaza terrorists launched hundreds of rockets at Israel, killing several people and hitting the Jerusalem and Tel Aviv regions, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz have given the go-ahead to continue regular cash shipments to Gaza. On Sunday Israel will allow 13.5 million dollars in cash through its Negev crossings to the region.
The Shurat Hadin organization, which fights funding for terrorism, has written to Netanyahu urging him to cancel the shipment. “As you well know, this cash is used by the Hamas organization, among other things, for the rockets and weapons it imports,” attorneys wrote.
The cash shipments allow Hamas to avoid making purchases through international banks “and so help it to circumvent legal and technical obstacles inhibiting its financial activity,” they added.
