Egypt will resume pushing Fatah-Hamas reconciliation following the PA’s planned bid this week to upgrade its UN status, according to the PA-based Maan news.

Fatah and Hamas jointly ruled the PA following Hamas’ ascent to power in 2006, but split shortly after as Hamas grabbed control of Gaza in a series of brutal battles with Fatah. The two groups have attempted reconciliation several times.
