A document slandering senior members of the Likud party were distributed around the country, Friday, ahead of primary elections, scheduled for Sunday, to determine the candidates who will join members of the Yisrael Beytenu party on a joint Knesset ballot, early next year. The document claims to present the names of Likud members who helped then-prime minister Ariel Sharon carry out the Disengagement of 2005, in which almost 10,000 Jews were evicted from Gaza and northern Samaria.
The document was signed by a group calling itself the Gush Katif Faithful. It was condemned by Eliezer Oyrbach, the manager of the Gush Katif Residents' Committee, who said the document contained serious lies about Education Minister Gid'on Sa'ar and Gila Gamliel, Deputy Minister for Advancement of Young People, Students and Women. Oyrbach cited the two Knesset members for consistently opposing the uprooting.
