Yair Farjoun, head of the Ashkelon Coast Regional Council, welcomed on Thursday the ceasefire that was called between Israel and Hamas.
“Another day or two of pounding them from the air would not have changed anything and sending a large number of troops that would have stayed there for a few weeks would not have produced more effective results,” he told Arutz Sheva.
"We scored many points, and the usefulness of Iron Dome is also a great achievement,” added Farjoun. “Hamas in Gaza was crushed and many of their leaders were killed. We also formed a coalition with Morsi’s Egypt, who sat with us and put together the ceasefire and that's important. Contrary to the public who wanted to continue, the Prime Minister, the Defense Minister and Lieberman made a decision which showed leadership.”
