Shekel Jumps, Euro Outpaces Pound, Dollars, Yen


The official value of the shekel rose an average of .98 percent, Thursday, against all the featured currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign-exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.867, down 1.251 percent, while the Euro declined .642 percent to 4.9833 shekels.

The pound sterling was set at NIS 6.1702, down 1.069 percent, while 100 Japanese yen fell 1.553 percent to 4.6831 shekels. The Australian dollar declined 1.177 percent to NIS 4.0131, while its Canadian counterpart was fixed at 3.882 shekels, down 1.221 percent, and the South African Rand fell 1.638 percent to NIS .4324.
