On Friday November 23rd the Egged bus corporation in Jerusalem will once again change its routes for the second time in 6 months. The #24a line will be eliminated. A new #10 line will be added.
Some residents have been complaining that the new changes are forcing residents to transfer to the Jerusalem light rail. An article in Haaretz in July reported that "the Israeli government promised CityPass, the concessionaire of Jerusalem's light rail, that it would prevent competition from buses... According to the agreement, which was signed a decade ago and revealed in recent days, the government promised to prevent the operation of bus lines parallel to the train's course."
Friday's changes will effect bus lines 4, 4a, 17, 18, 19, 35, 65, and 68. Bus stops have been changed as well. New and improved bus stops have been installed as well as digital signs that indicate which bus is arriving next.
