Muslim leaders in Britain plan to join Islamists in Pakistan in declaring a fatwa on schoolgirl Malala Yousafzai, the Telegraph reports. Yousafzai, 15, was shot by Taliban terrorists last month and suffered near-fatal wounds. She is currently recovering in a British hospital.
The fatwa will denounce her as an apostate, a British Muslim man who spoke to the paper revealed. While apostasy is a death penalty offense in Islam, he claimed that the goal of the fatwa is not to encourage the schoolgirl’s murder, but rather to expose “how she is being used as a tool for propaganda by the US and Pakistan.”
Malala was targeted for her activism on behalf of education for girls in defiance of Taliban edicts.
